Midwife Appointment

Most importantly Guice is doing very well, heart rate sounded great and he is growing. Other than that their isn't much to report. Everyone in the office laughs out loud when they see my belly, I have to admit it is a little humorous. I have dilated and thinned out more, which is wonderful. I turned down an ultrasound for reasons I have already expressed. I just hope things progress naturally, and I do not have to be induced. Linda seems to think this might have been my last office visit, I on the other hand am not holding my breath :). It would be wonderful if I did go into labor in the next couple of days while Emery Jai is with her Grandparents. That is a source of anxiety for me. We do not have anyone here to keep her. It takes my Parents at least 6 hours to make the trip. So as you can imagine the situation is a bit stressful. I am just praying everything works out the way we hope it will, and if not at least it will make for a great story!

38 Weeks 5Days!

Things are going well. I am officially uncomfortable, but with all things considered I am doing great! I am trying my hardest to be patient, this is next to impossible. It is hard because I know if I were seeing an physician I could/would be induced at this point. As much as I want a drug free birth/delivery induction is very tempting, not that it is an option. At this point I hate being in public, the unsolicited comments are on my nerves. If I have heard it once I have heard it a thousand times, are you having twins? At this point I just say no and keep walking. Earlier in the pregnancy I would stop and explain that one I carry straight out and two I have large babies. I no longer take the time to say anything other than a less than polite no. I am sick of being treated like a circus freak, maybe I should set up a side show act and charge admission.
Anyway, I don't know when Guice will decide to make his grand entrance, I just hope and pray it is sooner than later! I am running out of things to do. I have picked out his birth announcements, they are super cute! Very unique and a little vintage. I can't wait to mail them out! His diaper bag is packed, everything is ready. We are just waiting on him.

Fetal development in pregnancy week 38:fetus in ninth month As you know, you've arrived at the final leg of your pregnancy journey, and if you're still carrying your little love around, they've just about reached their birth weight (somewhere between 6 to 8 pounds is average depending on whether they're a boy or girl). There really isn't a lot to report on baby this week, so lets do a quick recount of where we're at: all internal organ systems are pretty much ready for the outside world, they've got their meconium stockpile building up (their first black baby poo), lots of healthy baby fat, a rapidly developing brain (that'll keep growing with them for years to come), and they've more or less reached official baby status-- all they need to do is "head out" and say hello to the rest of the world and especially their ready-to-pop momma.
Pics 38 Weeks!

18 Months Old!

Emery Jai is 1 and 1/2 today! I can not believe that tomorrow she will be closer to two than one. She truly is the joy of our lives. Emery Jai is the funniest person I know. She is always in the best mood, always smiling. She never ceases to amaze me.

She has had a very busy month. E.J. learned to use the potty, she is now completely potty trained. We could not be more excited about it! Emery Jai also went on her first vacation without Mom and Dad. She has been staying with NeNa and Pop, she will be home this weekend. Emery is loving it! I don't think she misses us at all, we miss her terribly. She is having so much fun with Kit Kat. Emery Jai wants Kit Kat to let her clip her nails, brush her teeth, clean out her ears, and feed her Kashi bars. Kit Kat is under the impression that her personal hygiene is great, so is her current diet. I would venture to guess Kit Kat would help Emery Jai pack her bags to come back to Nashville.

Emery is also enjoying seeing all of her family, she missed them a ton. We have to talk about all of them constantly when she is here. She asks about Granny Brewer, No-No (Erica), Jo Jo and everyone else. I know they miss her too.

I have to mention that E.J. is fearless! She jumps off the side of the pool! This kid is not scared of anything! Emery Jai loves the water, she takes about 3 baths a day. She just wants to get in fill it up as high as possible and swim around. She also has shown a great interest in dressing herself. Her favorite outfit is a Huckabee for President T-shirt paired with blue underwear. The ensemble would not be complete without a hat. She does not like to wear pants or shorts of any kind. Just T-shirts and panties, preferably blue. If she does not like her outfit she will pull on it and yell like a banshee. Emery Jai will not wear her bathing suit top, she calls it a bra. So the last time she was in the pool she only wore the bottoms. I know I am in for it with this child! Josh and I have learned to pick our battles. I am very lax at this point about what I consider an appropriate outfit :). So much for my little fashion plate, it was fun while it lasted!

Emery Jai has so much energy. I know I talk about this a lot, it is something you have to witness first hand. She is constantly on the go, into one thing or another all of the time. A friend told me she was driven by the desire to learn. That is why she broke my cell phone, to see how it worked. I try to keep this in mind when she is ripping the house down to the studs!

Josh and I have found her a Mothers Day Out program for this fall. E.J. will start out going one day a week from 9:30 to 2:30. If we like it we can increase the amount of days she attends. We think she will love it. She loves to learn new things and be around other children. I hope it works out for her. I am so nervous, the idea of someone else taking care of her is frightening to me. I also worry I will be called to pick up the little monkey :). I hope she doesn't get kicked out! This will be her first time in a structured educational setting. We will see how it goes!

Although she has had a very busy and exciting month it is nothing in comparison to what this next month will bring, a baby brother! Please pray for her/us during the transition. I am trying to be positive while preparing for the inevitable tantrums and melt downs!

Big Sis T's

When we found out we were expecting number two Erica made us the sweetest shirt for Emery Jai. Emery Jai wore it to Thanksgiving, everyone was so very shocked. It was such a neat way for us to announce the upcoming event. So while Erica was here last weekend she made one for the monkey to wear to the hospital. I can not believe what a difference 9 months has made! I remember thinking when I saw those 2 pink lines, what in the world I am I going to do with two babies!! Over the last several months it has become quite clear I will not have two babies, I will have one precious baby boy and one amazing little girl. Emery Jai is so big now. I can not believe the change.

I can't wait until she gets to put it on!

Thanks Erica for making the shirts!

Great Weekend!

Erica was up this weekend, we had an amazing time! We shopped and walked around down town Nashville all day on Saturday. I had a great time! We stopped at took pics at every statue we could find! I am sure people thought we were nuts, but who cares it was a blast. We saw some very interesting souvenirs, but that's another story altogether. I am not sure it is appropriate for a family blog, just email Erica she will tell you all about it. Be sure to check out more pics on her blog. I can not wait until her next visit!

Hangin' out with the King!

Hugged up with a horse or a mule maybe a donkey!?!?

37 Weeks 6 Days!

Everything is well! This week was a little more eventful with the contractions and all. I am so relieved that at the most I only have a few weeks left. I am drinking the teas and taking the supplements to make things happen. The teas taste a lot like dirt which makes me gag and the supplements give me heart burn, fun times. Josh and I are trying very hard not to get super anxious, but we find it next to impossible. I was craving strawberry cake, Josh brought home a HUGE cake! It is fabulous. I think I have maybe two shirts and a couple pairs of pants that still fit my belly. I refuse to buy any more clothes. Josh loves looking at my belly and guessing how Guice is laying. It is not a hard guess! It is easy to see where he is, my whole belly will be distorted by his movement/shape, it will look completely lopsided.
Emery Jai went home with Nena and Pop so we could get rest and finish up some final things. I miss her already, but it is nice to have some down time. I am going to do my belly cast this week and clean the house extremely well (thrilling, I know). Although what I am looking forward to most is Erica coming on Friday! I have a busy week planed, maybe the next one will fly by!
Fetal development in pregnancy week 37:fetus in ninth month It’s the calm before the storm. Changes in your baby's weight have leveled off with only a few ounces of fat added this week. At this point your baby should weigh in at around 7 lbs and 20 inches (with boys somewhat heavier and longer than girls). Happily, as far as internal organs go, they are now developed enough to function in the outside world although the oh-so-important immune system is still developing and will continue to do so after birth. With a large boost of antibodies provided by breast milk when nursing begins. Fighting infection and staying healthy should be well within their physical capacity when your little fighter is born.

Yummy strawberry cake!

Can my tummy get any bigger?!? (I know the answer is yes it can and it will)

Midwife Appointment!

I had my weekly appointment today, nothing exciting to report unfortunately! Everything is about the same. Most importantly Guice is doing great. I had a NST just for reassurance and he is wonderful. My blood pressure was normal, weight gain um yes :), and he is still measuring large. I have my next appointment Wednesday, more news then!

BABY WATCH 2007!

The count down has begun! It is a very exciting and exhausting time. This weekend I thought for certain I was in labor. I was having contractions every 2-6 min. for hours at a time. The contractions never intensified, they were just mildly uncomfortable. I had a quick visit with a midwife today to see if any progress was made, I was praying she would tell me I was at 4. No such luck. After all of the annoying contractions and lack of sleep I had shown very little change. This was a little discouraging to me. I am trying so hard to stay positive, and remind myself it will happen in Gods time, not mine. But that is a constant struggle for me. I want him here now. I know I am only 37 weeks and 4 days so I could still have a ways to go. I have my appointment on Wednesday, I will keep you updated!

Happy Brithday To Me!

I had a great Birthday! Nena & Pop took us to eat at the Cheesecake Factory! The food there is amazing! We all had a great time! Turning 28 was not as traumatic as I had envisioned. It was uneventful for the most part. I am OK being 28, I have had an overwhelming urge to a) cut my hair off b) get a piercing or c) get a tattoo. I have not made a final decision on which if any I will do, I think it is smart to wait until after the birth. Maybe my hormones will be a little more in check :).

pics of me and the kido's!

i had pics taken with josh, but i look huge (im sure its just the camera angle).

Mission Accomplished!

It was our (mostly my) goal to have everything ready for Guice by the 14th, which just happens to be my birthday. Surprisingly we met our deadline early! Everything is ready for him. Guice has a place to sleep (two places actually), an installed car seat, a spot to be rocked, and more clothes than a baby could ever possibly wear. Our glider was delivered today, Josh and Emery Jai spent the morning putting it together, a little father daughter bonding. Emery Jai was such a huge help! All we need now is our little man!

Enjoying the finished product!

New Bag's

Nena & Pop came to Nashville this weekend, it is so great to see them. Nena brought new bags for the kids! They are super cute! We are looking forward to a great weekend!

Midwife Appointment!!

Everything is good! I did not get to see Linda. I saw Bess she was very very nice. She loved Emery Jai, Emery helped measure my belly and find the heart beat. So at 36 weeks 6 days I am at 2 cm.!! This might not sound like a lot to some people but it is huge for me. When I went in to be induced with Emery Jai at 41 weeks I was not dilated at all!! It honestly took 15 hours of intravenous drugs to get me to two, I am happy with 2. I do realize I could still go to 42 weeks, but I only have 8 centimeters to go! I am measuring post term, 42 plus weeks. Bess said he felt around 7 1/2 lbs. a little over average (link). She said if she did not know I was 36 & 6 she would think I was over due. I did gain some weight 2 1/2 lbs, Bess said not to worry about gaining weight, bring on the birthday cake! She said studies show there is not a significant correlation between maternal weight gain and fetal birth weight. I just have big babies. Bess asked me if I wanted to have my membranes stripped, I said of course! I will have them stripped every week, this has been shown to bring on labor. My blood pressure is great 100/60, Guice's heart rate was in the 140's. My GBS test was negative, so I do not have to have an I.V. during labor. I go back on Wednesday.
please continue to pray for a healthy baby!!

36 Weeks 4 Days!

Let me just say I can not believe it, 3 days until I am full term!!! So very exciting! And I completely realize that I could very well be pregnant this time next month, but maybe not! Things are going OK, my morning sickness is back and I am officially an insomniac. Emery Jai thinks me throwing up is the funniest thing, she mocks me all day. The not sleeping is much worse to me than being sick. Not sleeping drives me crazy, expect to see long rambling blog posts. I am going to tough it out and not take any meds, not that Linda would give me any. Other than those minor things all is well. I have to admit I have been very shall we say emotional, Josh catches the brunt of it. He is amazing, he lets me be crazy and then act as if nothing happened. What a wonderful husband!
We are trying very hard to prepare Emery Jai for the birth of her brother, I really wonder how much she understands. I know she knows there is something going on with my belly. I think she knows there is a baby in it. Whenever we see a baby she points to the baby then to my belly. She says Mommas baby, Mommas baby. If you ask her where Guice is she will point to my tummy. Emery Jai will also listen to my belly, if you ask her what the baby said she will say "Hi". I know she has no clue how the baby will impact her life, no one not even adults can imagine that kind of change. But I do think she gets that things are changing, and something big is about to happen. Hopefully the adjustment period will not be to long. But she has been the center of our world for 17 months. Emery Jai is not around other kids very much and does not have a clue what it is like to share her Mom or her Daddy. I am super nervous about her reaction, only time will tell.
She loves to put stickers on the baby!

Come out Guice, E.J. wants to play!

For Nena!

I am posting these pics for Nena, she bought Emery Jai the sweetest outfit and hasn't seen her in it. I thought I would post some pictures of Emery in it, before she out grows it. The only problem is that E.J. hates having her picture made, she wants to be the one holding the camera. So she is wearing the outfit but is in the middle of a huge temper tantrum. I think the terrible two's visited the Anderson household a little early :).

Midwife Appointment!

The visit went well. I did not get to see Linda, she was delivering a baby. I did not care for the person I saw, shes not a midwife so I don't have to worry about seeing her again. Anyway Guice is wonderful and growing like a weed! I actually lost weight two pounds! I have no idea how, I eat constantly. Josh made the comment today that he can tell a difference in our grocery bill when I am pregnant. My blood pressure is good 110/70 and his heart rate was around 130. The person I saw (I don't know her name) recommended that I try not to gain any weight from this point on, that he felt "full term". She said to eat healthy but that he did not need to get any bigger. I go back on Wednesday, I will get the results of my Beta Strep test. Josh and I are going tomorrow to buy the herbs we need for the natural induction process, I will start the herb regimen at 37 weeks.

A Bed For Guice!

This is Guice's co-sleeper. It was delivered yesterday, Josh stayed up basically all night putting it together. It looks black in the pictures but it is actually a dark cherry. The sleeper attaches to the bed someway, we adjusted it so it is the exact height of our mattress. It can convert to a regular bassinet and a toddler bench. We are very happy with it so far, I think it is beautiful.
All we need now is our little man! I am due 30 days from today, but I am trying my hardest not to focus on that day as "the day". I am preparing mentally to go to 42 weeks. I do not want to be let down when August 2nd comes and goes and no baby. It is so difficult because we can not wait to see his little face! Josh and I have a made a little bet. We made the same one with Emery Jai. I think he will have brown eyes and dark hair, Josh is sticking with blue eyes and red hair. We will find out soon!

I can not wait to see a baby in this thing!

35 Weeks 3 Days!

I am still doing well. I am starting to have more symptoms of the pregnancy, nothing out of the ordinary. I am tired most of the time. I have started light duty meaning Josh is responsible for all of the heavy cleaning. This is a mixed blessing, I don't have to do it but it doesn't get done the way I want. That is stressful to me, I need to learn to let somethings go, I guess. I have an over whelming urge to have everything super Clorox clean! I want the house spotless, needless to say Josh does not share my urgency. We are looking forward to our appointment on the 6th. After that we will start going every week until the big day!
On to more exciting things, the baby's name!! I think most people know already. I don't know why I have not announced it on the blog yet. Drum roll please......
GUICE BREWER ANDERSON

So that's it for sure, I love the name. As before Guice is still after my Maternal Grandfather, Brewer is after my Dad and my Grandfather. And yes, yes, yes I am for sure this time :)!

Fetal development in pregnancy week 35 fetus in eighth month Congratulations! You’re now carrying nearly 6 lbs of baby not counting their amniotic fluid, the umbilical cord, or the placenta itself. We’re impressed because that’s a LOT of work non-stop. Are you feeling proud of yourself yet? Well, get to it—you’ve done an amazing job! At this point, your little-grower is almost busting out of the womb size-wise, which make their restricted attempts to move much challenging. Of course, your stubborn little sucker is still trying to move around as if they weren’t in a cramped space. And the accumulation baby fat deposits are starting to level off so your little butter ball will be padded and warm when they head out of their super snug little home.

Belly Shot!

E.J. Is Potty Trained!

Emery Jai is potty trained, for the most part! I would say about 90%. 90% because she still wears a diaper at night, I don't think she is ready to hold it all night, she does wear underwear for her nap. And also because E.J. still has an accident here and there. But I think she is doing wonderful considering she is 17 months. We are so proud of her and she is so proud of herself! She loves using the big girl potty. As a reward she gets stickers or mimi's (plastic farm animals). The choosing of the mimi's is an ordeal! Emery says "I choose two" about 100 times before she picks the ones she wants. She will pull one out shake her head no and then put it back in the bag. This happens countless times before she finds the perfect mimis. I can not believe we are diaper free during the day, if only for a couple of weeks!
I just have to post these pics! I am sure Emery Jai will yell at me for this in a few years, but she looks to cute!

Catching up on some reading!

Daddy taught her to concentrate, this is the face!
